JMC Turns 3 and Earns a New Name

Three years…wow. With every year that passes, I can’t help but sit in awe of how fast time flies and just how much I’ve accomplished since I started. Yes, JMC was launched February 1st, 2018, but the work started in the summer of 2017. I had a lot of fun creating this space for you and immediately started writing blogs. It was the only way I knew how to show you how I could help - by guiding you through my own journey to health and wellbeing to show you it’s possible for you to do the same.

JMC has been a labour of both personal growth and professional development, and as this little biz turns 3 today, I'm setting its foundations in stone. To start off, and as I've led onto in previous weeks, JMC has had a bit of an overhaul! For months I've tinkered with separating my offerings onto different platforms, keeping things concise and specific to those who were searching for one or the other. What I didn't realize, though, was that wasn't being true to what this biz is about, nor was it helping you gain access to foundational principles to a healthy lifestyle that you could take control of and cultivate in tandem. What are the foundations of a healthy lifestyle? The nuances will look different for everyone, as every body/mind/spirit is unique, but the basic principles are the same - food, exercise, sleep, etc. The principles I practice and offer assistance with to you were chosen because they’re the same three things that have made me feel empowered and in control of my own health. They are:

FOOD

As a Holistic Nutritionist and Certified Nutritional Practitioner, this is a no-brainer. I remember when I used to think the phrase “you are what you eat” was bunk. There was no way what I ate made up what I am, right? WRONG! Those words are an obvious truth to me now and as such, I’m driven to help you take control of your health by way of what you eat. This is a much deeper conversation, all of which I’ll touch upon in future, but for most people the truth is that if you eat a clean diet designed for your body, it will take you 90% of the way to physical and mental wellbeing. Layer on mindfulness, fitness, and spirituality and you’re there, but food is a substantial gateway to a clear mind and clean body, giving you the energy and awareness to tackle other areas of your wellbeing.

FARMING

For those of you who have been following me for the past few years, you’ll know that my obsession with growing food has grown stronger year over year. Here I am, after my first season on the farm in the B.C. interior in the spring of 2017, not being able to go a season without growing food. Somewhere along my journey, I became painfully aware of the adulteration and manipulation of the planet and the food I was purchasing from the grocery store, depreciating its quality and increasing its toxicity. Along with a strong urge to become more connected to the earth by physically touching it and enrapturing myself in it, I decided to start learning how to grow my own food. I wanted to not only become more self-sufficient, but also in control of what was going into my body. This, too, is a much deeper conversation, but an obvious decision on my part, no matter how complex the discussion.

Starting April 5, I’ll be opening up my farming services and products (yes, that’s right…plants for purchase, and so much more!). Stay in the know and don’t miss out!

FITNESS

As you may know, I’m a Certified Essentrics® Instructor and have been for the past 3 years. I’ve been practicing this program for almost three times as long and continue growing as both an instructor and student. Some of you may not even know what Essentrics® is - what is Essentrics® anyway? - so, let me put it this way…if your body is tight, if you’re recovering from an injury, if you’d like to increase your flexibility, correct your posture, increase your energy, or just like a good low impact workout that delivers immediate results, then try this program.

I love both teaching and taking classes. It’s something of an addiction to me and I love watching my students float out of class into what feels like a new body - from just one hour of movement. I’m constantly hearing my students say that it helps them feel better from ailments they thought couldn’t be remedied, and that it really is a cure-all foundational practice that they can’t stay away from.

I really do miss teaching in-person classes, but since virtual is the new norm I’ve embraced it. I’ve continued stepping up my game, providing a smooth audio-visual experience for my students, enhanced music playlists, and new class styles, offering four regular weekly classes starting February 15th, with more schedule updates to come in future weeks. What’s new & what’s to come?

Class Packs

Drop-in
$20 per class, per student (tax included)
For those wanting to try a class for the first time, or pop in once in a blue moon

5-class pack
$95 per 5-class pack, per student (tax included)
For those attending 1-2 classes per week, this class pack would get you through one (1) month, roughly

10-class pack
$180 per 10-class pack, per student (tax included)
For those attending 2-3 classes per week, this class pack would get you through one (1) to 1.5 months, roughly

Unlimited monthly pass
$210 for as many classes per month as you like, per student (tax included)
Aimed at the student who takes 3+ classes per week

One-on-One Consultations

I’m excited to continue supporting you as you strengthen your connection to food, the earth, and yourself using foundational practices. Though I’m no longer providing one-on-one consultations, I am still always here to listen and guide you in the direction you’d like to go by suggesting someone who may be able to help you, should it not be me. Holistic Nutrition is the backbone of all that I do, but I know that clinical assistance is not where I’m best suited and that there are others out there better suited to help you.

I’ll still be providing you with weekly newsletters on Monday mornings to kick off you’re week. I’ll still be present on Instagram and Facebook (search me under @jmcwellness.ca), and you’ll even see more of me in new formats (think videos!).
