How Meal Plans Saved My Life

A new year is here, and with it brings new hopes, dreams, goals, motivations, ambitions, and of course, resolutions. There’s no doubt in my mind you’ve set at least one new goal or intention for 2020. It is, after all, not only a new year, but a new decade. That’s heavy! And pretty impressive, considering Y2K feels like it just happened…sorta.

As I mention every January, I start each new year by reflecting on the one past, thinking about everything I did, accomplished, and felt. I also look ahead and jot down all the things I wish to accomplish over the next 365 days. This year one of my goals is to be more prepared for lunches, dinners, and snacks, because I’ve been slacking. What…it happens to nutritionists too!

I was really busy at the end of 2019 and I knew that January of 2020 would be no different, if not more intense. Time was limited and I was finding myself eating more meals out of the house, grabbing odd snacks, and eating things I normally didn't eat. I was off track and starting to feel icky. But, fast forward a few weeks and things are looking up!

So, what's my secret?

Meal plans.

After years of developing my skills as a home chef, I've come to be really good at putting meals together from scratch, but sometimes I need help, new ideas, and a plan of attack. For the past year, on a weekly basis I've been planning my meals each week. I sit down for 30-60 minutes and find recipes I'd like to make that week, making sure I have just enough to get me through, accounting for any meals out of the house I already have planned. I list out what I'll have for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, and beverages, and then I put a grocery list together. When Sunday rolls around, I hit up the grocery store and grab the ingredients on my list, pop home and make all my meals for the week. I can't tell you how many hours and dollars I've saved, how much stress I've alleviated, and how much better I've felt having meals at-the-ready whenever I need them.

This plan of attack is what gets me out of my funk, because yes, even holistic nutritionists who are good cooks can fall off the wagon, too. Life gets in the way. Plans get made, work gets busy, sleep becomes a dream. And of course, eating well is the first thing to go.

That’s why, starting January 31st, I’m offering a weekly meal plan subscription to help you get back on track and stay on track throughout the year.

Food is our main source of life. Though, there’s also the sun, water, and let’s face it…love. Still, a solid, nutritious diet is the foundation upon which your body thrives. So, why not make it a priority?

For one year of pre-selected recipes, grocery lists, and meal calendars, you’d spend approximately half the amount of the average annual Canadian life insurance policy. If you ask me, since good food ensures good health, you should probably purchase a meal plan and scrap your life insurance altogether! Maybe think that one over…but you get my drift.

Eating preventatively, meaning having a good variety of wholesome foods every day, along with a good exercise routine and de-stressing practice can keep you healthy without having to fix your health on the back end. A good diet will save you money on medicine, make you more efficient in your day-to-day, and prevent disease. A good meal plan will take that one step further and save you time, money, and stress on knowing what to make to eat, while helping you get to your ideal weight so you can feel comfortable in your body.

If you ask me, it’s a no brainer. Jump on over to my subscription page to learn more. And, if you’re that special someone who already knows they love meal plans and who also knows they require a little more fine tuning than the average Joe or Jane, then check out my personalized meal plan option. No matter your need, if you enjoy good food and a good ol’ kitchen party, but can’t figure your food schedule out, then this may also save your life like it did mine.

See you in the kitchen!
